Brushes! Brushes! Brushes!

Hello!

I wanted to share with y'all some of my favorite brushes! I will be dividing the post into three sections: Foundation, Contour/Highlight/Blush, and Eye Shadow. I will list each brush, include the link to purchase it and tell you how I use it. Enjoy!  (Note: I do not receive any compensation from these brands or companies to sell their products, nor do I receive commission for these links)

    Foundation

For full coverage liquid foundations, I use this brush from Cargo. It's their Magic Brush and you can get it here for $35 USD. I use this brush with my NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. It blended the liquid formula very well and never left my face looking streaky. I have tried it with creamy foundation formulas like the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Foundation and it just absorbed the foundation and wouldn't blend at all.

Okay, so I know this isn't technically a brush, but Beauty Blenders are the only thing I will use to apply my cream foundations. Beauty Blenders really are my ride or die beauty applicators and if it ever came down to it, I would choose a single beauty blender to do all my makeup over any single brush. I am not super particular about my beauty blenders but the Sephora Collection blenders work well and are affordable (not pictured).

     Contour/Highlight/Blush

I use this Angled Shader from Royal & Langnickel to draw in my contour lines. I received it in my May Glam Bag* on its own but to buy it you have to get a kit. The link for the most basic kit containing this brush is here. It gives me clear cut lines with my contour, which save me from trying to be precise using a large brush. However, if you don't want to purchase the whole kit, I found a Luxie look-alike.

After drawing in my lines with my Precision Angled brush, I use this brush to blend in the line, add bronzer and apply blush. I should probably get a different brush for my blush so I'm not mixing blush and bronzer, but I like the way this one blends. I scoured the internet for another one of the same brush but just can't find it. It's a Strobe brush by Beauty Concepts. I bought in the clearance section of Marshall's, so I think it may have been discontinued. Luckily, I found a similar one from Luxie (it's my favorite company to buy brushes, in case you don't figure that out by the end of the post 😂). .This is the link for the Luxie look-alike brush.

This is technically a blush brush, but I am notorious for almost never using brushes for their individually intended purpose. I use this brush, the Luxie Rose Gold Blush Face Brush 514, to apply highlight to my cheekbones. It has a very slight curve to the top, making it perfect for precise application. I received this brush in my February Glam Bag*, and it sat in my brush container for about three months before I actually used it. Once I tried it, I was sad that I waited so long. I really like this brush and would recommend it to anyone looking for an all purpose blush/highlight/bronzer brush.

This is the Luxie Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660. How I ended up using a foundation brush as a blush brush is a story for another time, but it actually works really well!!! I received this brush in my April Glam Bag* and retired my old blush brush (I had run it over with the car, yet another long story for a different day).  It blends beautifully and is soooo soft! It is actually the softest brush I have ever used, and as a bonus it's Cruelty Free and 100% Vegan.

     Eye Shadow

This is currently one of my favorite eye shadow brushes. It is the Blending Brush Eye Shadow Brush by Elizabeth Mott.  It is a high quality brush with super compact synthetic bristles. I have washed it at least three times since I received it in my March Glam Bag* and it hasn't shed a single bristle. I use this brush for applying dark shadows to the crease of my eyelid as well as blending darker glitter shadows in from the outer corner of my lid.  I would definitely recommend this brush as it works well for just about every eye shadow need, it will last you a long time and its compact design fits well in small purses and travel makeup bags.

I received this brush in my January Glam Bag*, and when I went to find the link to the brush, I found that you can only purchase it by set and the set costs $350 USD. However, Luxie is here to save the day yet again! The Luxie Onyx Noir Tapered Blending Eye Brush 205 is practically the same brush head, but with a different handle. I use this brush to dust light colored glitter shadows or highlight on the inner corners of my lids, as well as for blending away harsh lines.

This eye shadow brush was my original ride or die makeup brush and deserves to be hung in Chloe's Makeup Hall of Fame. Meet the Smudge Brush by Beau Gâchis. This brush has been with me since before February 2016. I got it in a Glam Bag* long since forgotten and it has never left my daily makeup rotation!  While the bristles have gotten a little frayed and stiff, it still works just as well and has lasted me over a year and a half (and counting)!

This double duty eye shadow brush has been with me since my June 2016 Glam Bag*.  It sat in my brush cup for a long time up until about two months ago I started using it and really like it.  The smudge side makes quick work of blending dark colors and the bristles are very compact so it catches all the of the eye shadow. I use the crease side to lay down glitter shadows on my eye lid and it is especially helpful when doing a cut crease look. Since I got this brush in a Glam Bag* I didn't have to buy the whole kit, but it is only available in a set from the retailer. The link for the set is this. If you don't want to purchase the whole set, the Luxie look-alikes are here: the smudge end and the crease end

That is it! These are all the brushes I use for my everyday looks. I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know how the brushes work out for you. Shoot me an email with any questions or stories about your makeup fun!!

Love,
Coco Cat
