Does Diffusing Essential Oils Have Any Benefits?

Hello!

****note: I am not advertising any specific brand nor am I represented by a particular brand. These are just the oils I chose to buy. I am not being endorsed in any way, shape, or form by a company or brand.****

Essential Oils are one of those things where there tends to be some weird stigmas. The medicinal benefits can be blown out of proportion and some people can make some weird claims about what essential oils really do. This is what originally turned me away from essential oils, but after trying them once for aromatherapy, I was hooked.

The earliest experience I had with essential oils was when my grocery store started selling them in the health food section. I made weekly visits to that aisle to get myself coconut water and one day I noticed the oils. Convincing my mother of the benefits of aromatherapy (of which I knew very little at the time 😂), I got her to buy a diffuser and a bottle of lavender oil.  That's were the obsession started!

After I tried the lavender essential oil, I fell in love with diffusing oils and would buy a new one almost every time I went to the grocery store.  My collection grew for a while, but now I hold steady with just eleven of my favorite oils. My Essential Essential Oil List is
  1. Peppermint
  2. Jasmine
  3. Ylang Ylang
  4. Lemon Grass
  5. Sandalwood
  6. Pine
  7. Grapefruit
  8. Lavender
  9. Eucalyptus
  10. Tea Tree
  11. Lemon
(If you want a list of my favorite diffuser blends, leave a comment below and I'll have one posted soon!)

Now you may ask, why would I diffuse essential oils when I could just use candles? I prefer essential oil diffusers over candles because you can change the smell as often as you want, you can choose the intensity of the smell, mix and match smells find you're new favorite, and you don't have to worry about leaving a candle burning if you fall asleep or leave the house without remembering to blow out the candle. If you are a forgetful person like me, I would recommend purchasing a diffuser with an automatic power off. When the water level gets low, the diffuser will automatically turn off so it doesn't stay running on empty. (Guilty haha)

Because I can change the blend to fit my mood, I use my diffuser all the time. I have also found that diffusing different oils can change my mood. When I am cleaning, I will always put on a citrus-y blend because it puts me in the cleaning mode. It's different for everyone! Mix and match oils to find what you like best. Happy Diffusing!
